ABOUT CONFIRMATION
Together, the sacraments of Baptism, the Eucharist, and Confirmation constitute the “Sacraments of Christian initiation.” According to the Catechism, the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace.
At the moment of Confirmation, the recipient of the sacrament receives the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The bishop invokes the outpouring of the Spirit in these words:
All-powerful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, by water and the Holy Spirit
you freed your sons and daughters from sin and gave them new life.
Send your Holy Spirit upon themto be their helper and guide.
Give them the spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the spirit of right judgment and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence.
Fill them with the spirit of wonder and awe in your presence.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

GUIDELINES FOR RECEIVING THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
TEENS
8TH GRADE – HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS
(AGES 14-17)Interested in being confirmed? Wonderful! Incarnation Catholic Church is very happy to help you begin the process to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation. We look forward to walking with you in this preparation process!
In order to begin the preparation process for Confirmation, teens must be entering the 8th grade or older, and have already received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist/Holy Communion.
Before registering for the Confirmation preparation process, the teen must have completed a minimum of one year of religious education (such as attending a Catholic School religion class or Sunday school/CCD/Faith Formation classes) prior to registering for the Confirmation preparation process. Also, during the preparation process, the teen must also be enrolled in Faith Formation classes (or attending a Catholic school).
Concerning the Confirmation of teens 8th Grade through High School (Ages 14-17), below are some guidelines for Incarnation Catholic Church:
- The registration for this process is held in August – September.
- At the beginning of this process, there is a mandatory parent meeting at which the entire process is explained to parents.
- Through the year, there are several workshops on Confirmation that the teens and a parent or sponsor should attend.
- Along with attending the workshops, teens are expected to complete 10 hours of Community service, choose a sponsor, pick a Saint name for themselves, and attend a Confirmation retreat.

ADULTS
(AGES 18 AND OLDER)Interested in being confirmed? Awesome! Incarnation Catholic Church is very happy to help you begin the process to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation. We look forward to walking with you in this preparation process!
In order to begin the preparation process for Confirmation, adults (Ages 18 and older) must have already received the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and Eucharist/Holy Communion.
Concerning the Confirmation of Adults (Ages 18 and older), below are some guidelines for Incarnation Catholic Church:
- Usually in the fall and spring, there is an adult Confirmation preparation class that meets weekly for a period of anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks.
- Once adults have been prepared and feel ready to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, a date for the Confirmation liturgy will be scheduled.
- If person is married civilly, their marriage would need to be convalidated soon after they get confirmed.
